Follow the Countryside Trail through Millbrook and into the historic village of Arrowtown, or take the Twin Rivers Trail alongside the Shotover and Kawarau Rivers before linking onto the Gibbston River Trail.
As the landscape opens into Gibbston wine country, enjoy sweeping vineyard views and the opportunity to stop at cellar doors along the way. Finish the day at Kinross Cellar Door.

After breakfast it’s time to embark on the newest trail in the Great Rides network, the Kawarau Gorge Trail, which follows the Kawarau River through the gorge, connecting the Gibbston wine region to Bannockburn.
Throughout the day, take in the dramatic, ever-changing scenery as the trail winds through rugged landscapes and along the river. Choose to stop at the Goldfields Mining Centre to explore the region’s rich gold mining history.
For wine lovers, ride along Felton Road, home to some of New Zealand’s most renowned wineries, before enjoying an afternoon at Carrick Cellar Door & Garden.
-
The Lake Dunstan Trail leads you away from the Bannockburn Inlet and along the lake’s edge toward Clyde. Ride through a landscape of wide-open water views and historic features, then take time to explore Clyde’s relaxed village atmosphere, with its local galleries, unique shops, and cafés.
