Trail cycling is a fantastic option year-round. But we are biased, of course and love showing our country to visitors in all its moods and seasons. Spring (September to November) and late Autumn (April to May) have milder, vibrant wildflowers, and stunning Autumn foliage - although Spring does experience a bit of rain now and then.

Summer into early Autumn (December to April) is usually dry and can be hot! Although we appreciate most of our Australia visitors have a different perspective on what ‘hot’ means. December to January are also peak season due to the annual summer school holidays.

In Winter (June to August) daylight hours are short and the weather is cold, often below freezing overnight and early morning. On the West Coast it can rain a lot. But for the truly adventurous, seeing the South Island mountains in snow is unforgettable. Maybe get some skiing in as well!
