Kawarau Gorge Trail Blazer Cromwell to Gibbston
1 Day Grade 2-3 (Intermediate) 42km
Few rides have been awaited quite like the Kawarau Gorge Trail, and it lives up to every bit of the anticipation.
This is far more than a day on a bike. Dramatic landscapes, clever trail engineering and the deep gold-mining history of Central Otago all fold into a single ride that's genuinely achievable in a day.
Because we run depots at both ends of the trail, in Cromwell and in Gibbston, you can start wherever it suits you. No shuttling required. Roll out from our depot and let the gorge unwind ahead of you.
The trail leads west along the river and the scenery never sits still. Sheer rock faces give way to turquoise water, then to the weathered remnants of old gold workings, the backdrop shifting with every bend.
Our premium eBikes handle the climbing for you, so you can spend less energy on the hills and more on the view. A ride that opens up to any level of fitness.
The route links two of Central Otago's most celebrated wine regions, Bannockburn and Gibbston, balancing adventure with indulgence. Between the suspension-bridge crossings and the ride beneath the gorge's towering bluffs, there's no shortage of moments worth slowing down for.
If you want a ride at your own pace, one that weaves together landscape, history and a taste of the local, this is the day for it.
