From Queenstown there are a number of new trails to follow. We recommend navigating the new Shotover Gorge Trail from Arthurs Point as it delves into the new Hugo Tunnel then connects with the Tucker Beach Trail. Be sure to take in the majestic alpine scenery - backdrop to the Shotover River. Connecting with the Countryside Trail, it's time for a break in Arrowtown - a quaint historic village located on the Arrow River, where fabulous shops and cafes beckon. The Arrow River Bridges Trail follows the Arrow River towards Gibbston, connecting at the Kawarau Bungy Bridge to the valley of vines. Numerous cellar doors showcase delicious vintages, and riding the trail above the Kawarau River is not short on stunning scenery.

After breakfast it’s time to embark on the newest trail within the Great Rides network - the Kawarau Gorge Trail. Following the Kawarau River through the gorge, the trail connects the vast cycle trail network of Queenstown with the famed trails of Central Otago. Wine afficionados will appreciate being able to ride from one renowned wine region to another as the trail leaves Gibbston bound for Bannockburn. Throughout the day witness staggering, dramatic scenery and remnants from the gold mining era. Choose to stop for a meander through the Goldfields Mining Centre to learn about the region's gold mining history. For wine lovers, as the trail enters Bannockburn, ride along Felton Road, home to some of the most prestigious wineries in New Zealand. Top off the day with a wine tasting flight and pizza lunch at Carrick Cellar Door & Garden. The views over the Bannockburn Inlet are a great outlook for well earned nourishment and refreshments! Joining up to the Lake Dunstan Trail at Bannockburn Bridge, wind back around the inlet and past the Cromwell Historic Precinct to finish the day at Kiwi Journeys Cromwell depot by 4.15pm.
