The Kawarau Gorge Trail is an exciting new cycling experience that reveals a hidden side of the region, following a dramatic journey along the Kawarau River as it winds between towering schist cliffs and sculpted canyon walls. From Gibbston to Cromwell, the trail flows through striking landscapes, with sweeping river views, soaring bridges, and ever-changing light. It's a cinematic ride through one of New Zealand's most iconic river corridors.
This Great Ride takes in highlights such as the renowned Gibbston and Bannockburn wineries and the historic Goldfields Mining Centre, and is best suited to confident riders with solid ability.
